On the forums for The Societies (a professional membershi body for photographers), there’s a discussion on ringflash. This is a type of light that looks like a ring of light from around the camera lens. It produces flat frontal lighting and can be awesome or terrible. It has a distint look which has a halo shadow when the subject is close to the background. Some people hate it with a passion, personally I love it. Anyhow, this is a shot of Katherine where we’ve moved away from the background to hide the shadow and added backlights to separate her from said background.
