The problem with Busy

is that you miss the things you want to do. I find myself thinking I should blog about this or that but never get to it. Driving lessons are going fine. Cyn is off to a wedding. I'm super busy in studio and at sound and will be off to France/Spain same as this time last year. I'll be going to Eurodisney on the way and hopefully Monaco. Got the new MacBook Pro to replace my ailing Powerbook. I'm only using Lightroom so far and it's pretty fast! I'll try it with Rosetta applications soon too.
Anyway. need the bed so..

Neat Image V4 for Mac

Neat Image, the Noise Reduction plugin for Photoshop on the Mac has been upgraded to V4.0. I originally beta tested it to version 2.0 and they were kind enough to give me V3 free when the time came. I'm happy to continue beta testing it for them but I haven't gotten any mail from them in a long time. It came as a little surprise when I logged onto their Mac page to see it had been updated again. Due to losing a load of mail a while back in a crash I had no registration details. I sent off an mail and got an immediate reply. Kudos to NI for their speed!. Not only that but I was able to download V4 at no charge. At least it looks that way. I'm sure I'll get a popup in 30 days! Anyhow it's great software and worth getting due to it's fantastic noise removal abilities.

Lightroom: Quick Metadata tip

Beta 2 TipMetadata Presets: It's great that you can build Metadata to apply IPTC to files both on import and later in the Metadata Pane of the Library Module. But what if your preset pane is getting cluttered? There's no direct way to delete the presets in the menu. Here's the workaround as confirmed by Adobe engineer Andy Rahn here.
Metadata Presets are stored as text files in a fixed location, which is ~/Library/Adobe Lightroom/Metadata Presets where "~" is your home directory. If you delete any file here it still shows in Lightroom as a preset (assuming Lightroom is still running) so go to the Library in Lightroom (no need to restart) and go to the Metadata pane and select the dropdown menu that says 'Preset' and at the bottom click "Refresh this menu". Viola. you've deleted the preset from Lightroom.

No Network Blues

Super busy but f*cked up due to no network in the house for over a week. I might have been able to tell you I was mixing the first half of a live broadcast on Today FM tonight otherwise. Josh Ritter was the main act on Pet Sounds tonight from 8-10pm. I mixed Julie Feeney and Dave Couse supporting. It went well. Happy overall.
I had my 2nd driving lesson today. Not so good as the last one but with much, much more driving. I'll be driving in estates next Thurs to improve my clutch work. As you can imagine though it left me a bit stressed for the radio gig.
Only brief now as I'm using my phone and Macjournal to post. I did my first assist gig at a wedding with Phillip Smyth. I'll do a few more too. I'm learning as I go and perceiving nre ideas as I go. Hopefully I'll enjoy it enough to work at it, (I did this time anyway!). I'll post a pic when the stupid network returns. (no images = less cost). Be good
