Bad boy for not posting

I took holidays so I've not posted much. Just back from Majorca. Food poisoning was not top of my favourite things to do on holiday but I still managed it :( Still a bit cramped but everything else is normal, ie nothing running out of both ends. We did loads over there most courtesy of Dave Cooley (Cheers Dave). Quick highlights: Sa Dragonera with the Mirador and little lizards, Palma in an empty gay bar at 7am -it was empty and we were with girls so no conclusions to jump to there, the most important part was that it was OPEN! Waking up Adrian to get my laptop at 9am while drunk-SORRY, grovel, Sorry. Getting soaked kneeling down taking my first proper photos of lighting in a raging thunderstorm. Eating chickn curry in an Irish bar in Palma (MacGowans) after another storm, despite the wait for it. The winding roads up the northwest coast to Valledemosa and Soller. The tram ride was cool but spoilt by the fact that because Dave's mum went to the loo before it came, Dave and his dad ran to get her on and didn't make it back in time as it pulled off. We couldn't exactly jump off with a buggy and baby so stayed on. We both felt crap that it was only us so we went back on the returning tram. The tram was still cool, but would've been better with all of us. At the bay across from Illa Magrat, Adrian (I did the trip over with him and Dave- remember ?), Noel and Alan went snorkelling. I'd a sore elbow so just paddled about a bit. I'd never snorkelled so was a little nervous about swimming the distance too (my swimming breathing technique is crap so I can't go great distances with out stopping). After a while we (Cyn, Adrian's fiance Trish and I) saw the three of them running up the hill on the near island! I got lovely shots that day and great fun. I did buy a mask and snorkel in the pool for a bit. I was just about to go out to the pier near the pool when my leg cramped so I didn't risk it even though I really wanted to. Matthew splashing and swimming in his floating ring. He can move fast for his size!
Lowlights: Food poisoning for one. Luckily it was on the last night. The €65 to see a doctor didn't help either. We had a late flight on the Tuesday so had to hang around the pool after cancelling our planned daytrip to Formentor due to my state. The 2nd thunderstorm as we went into Palma to sightsee was a downer (or a drowner on some of the roads). Larry, Kitty and Dave missing the tram was another lowlight.
So mostly good and a few bad. I should add the weather was only average- 2 full days of sun, 3 cloudy, one overcast and 1 thunderstorm. Enough for a tan topup though!

There and back again.

I was at Plasa in London at the start of the week. I had a good time and got a nice (but not huge) collection of shots. I'll be posting them over at Random Panderings as usual over the next few days. There wasn't much new at Plasa this year really for me. HK Audio had the new Actor and the new Elias PX systems (Maybe they should have a SWANN system next-System With A New Name). As I do a lot of Actor Club hires (i.e. 2 bins/2 tops) I ordered an Elias system. I should be able to put it out cheaper too. Allen & Heath had their new Live digital board there, looks impressive but costs a packet (well at least STG20K +VAT). I was there with Alex Fernie so we perused a number of items together. The Funktion One demo was great. I was impressed with the Res 1's and the 2's but I found the 4's a bit hard sounding compared to the others. The Funktion One cruise on the Thames was a highlight of the trip. Good food, good company and great views along the river, making for a great evening.

'Bride' Stripped Bare

A very interesting look at the making of a new Stop Motion animation by one of my favourite film makers, Tim Burton. I's shot on a Canon 1D Mk II so being a Canon fan, it's easy to see why it might interest me!

MakingRoom Magazine : Mark Tucker : Louisiana & Salton Sea

If you search for Mark Tucker and blog in google, I come out top. Now that is odd enough but I really like his work and so for that reason I'll mention the cool link in the title here.. Its a cool interview with Mark himself and it's well worth the read.

I've updated both the Galleries template on the Galway Camera Club website to use HTML from iView Media. So I obviously updated the galleries themselves too along with updated the main page and about page.

Flights of fancy

I took my first Helicopter flight on Tuesday. The weather didn't hold from Monday as promised so the light was so-so. They took the door off so I was able to get the best shots I could from the air. It meant things felt a little hairy but it was cool all the same. Pics as usual on random panderings. Off to Limerick with The Midnight Court. The touring guy Mick can't make tomorrow so I covering that. They need someone for Saturday too, but I'm at a wedding, so no go for me.

That's my apartment complex with the private house and beach nearby. If I want to go to the nearest other beach I have to walk 2-3 miles around to get it. It's the other end of the beach you see there. I wish GMIT would just allow access to the beach and keep the house and lands private.
