It's a kinda Magic
Black Magic in fact. From todays shoot. Shot in RAW + Large JPEG in B&W on the 350D.
Revenge of the Fans
Thank God that George Lucas got the hint of the Star Wars fans and actually made this 6th film (3rd episode) a vast improvement over the previous 2. From the opening scene to the bitter end, the film keeps at it with great action and fortunately, a vast amount of knots being tied in the loose end department. The CGI is a little worse for wear in a few small sections, but overall it's very good. I know I'm the last person I know to see this, but I will be going again soon!
Pierre Bensusan

Pierre played a cracking gig tonight in the Roisin Dubh. Click for a slightly larger!
Kinvara Hooker
Youghal Nightscape
Rocks at Liscannor

I'm not 100% sure but the Cliffs of Moher seems to start here. This view is looking towards Lahinch.
Youghal

Well the Galway Camera Club trip to Youghal was fun. The highlight was definitely the 90 minutes we got shooting the wonderful Cheetah cubs, which we only spotted as we were leaving, despite having spent ages at the enclosures earlier. Between Foto Wildlife Park and all the stuff I shot coming home, I could easily post a shot each day for 6 months and not run of of quality shots without even firing my camera off again!
Sigh
Macjournal managed to eat a very personal post relating to the death of a good musician friend of mine, Dave Coen. I'm not going to repeat it suffice to say he was a gentleman, always there with a tale or word of encouragement, and will be sorely missed. My thoughts are very much with his family and the whole music community here who are deeply saddened with his loss.
Neglectful
I've spent a lot time posting pictures and not really saying much. I suppose I've been living to a photoblog definition a little rather than a full blown blog. I use photos in my blog because I love shooting, not necessarily to illustrate a point.
I've been a bit down due to my inability to finally get the studio stuff set up in my store. I've been trying for ages, but having Matthew around makes it so hard because he demands so much attention. Coupled with my late bedtimes, it just doesn't work out. I did spend a bunch of my time today in the store getting the place mostly tidied. I'm giving away a bunch of stuff and selling unused stuff cheap. I figure that the amount of money being wasted in storage and inability to store other stuff negates the need for renumeration from some of what's going. After all the space would be better put towards the studio.
I was talking to a beautician friend who was very interested in doing makeup for portraits, but she's away for the summer. I'm aiming to get stuff ready for a Monday evening shoot as she's leaves on Wednesday. I guess there'll be a bunch of buggy pushing done this week to get ready! I do have to say though I'm icthing to get back to studio stuff after all the landscape/band/weststar shooting I've been doing.
As if that wasn't enough I'm in Youghal for the weekend with the Camera Club. Oh-I ended up on the committee because of the website I'm doing for them. I don't really have the time to do the full committee thng due to the fact that the meetings are generally on when I'm in work so we'll see how it works out.
Tomorrow sees Jack Daniels sponsoring a 4 band show in the Roisin Dubh. I know Smiling Politely are playing, but I've no idea about the others. Still it should be good. Hop over to
RoisinDubh.net for details of cool gigs coming up including BA Robertson & Pierre Bensusan.
Party Animals

Happy Birthday Erica!
Connemara with the cousins

We did a short trip to Connemara today. There was a huge fire on the right hand side of the road on the way back around Maam Cross which was out of control due to the high winds. I didn't get shots unfortunately.
Red Sunset

One of many photos during the evening, this evening. This was taken rear the rowing club, down by the Town Hall Theatre.

Macro

My lack of green fingers didn't prevent my pansies from flowering this year. There's 3 flowers right now. I was playing yesterday with my 105 Macro lens and a 2X TC to get this (and similar) shallow depth of field macro.
Nortel Trophy
Congrats to Ken Seery for winning the Nortel Trophy this year. I knew you would anyway!.
JJ72 at Roisin Dubh

Roscam Tower

I finally found the owners of the land the tower is on and got permission to go onto it and shoot. I got there later than I wanted so the sun was almost gone when I reached it. I will go back again and shoot more when the light is good (& I'm not working)

Another shot from yesterday.
At Play

I can hear the weeping from foreign soils as my mother-in-law yearns for fresh pictures of her grandson. So here you go Mildred.
Mark Tucker
Following a discussion in the
Rob Galbraith forums I clicked on a link to
Mark Tucker's site. Unreal photos. Check it out.
Electric Eel Shock

Loud, oh yes. Naked? Just the drummer, apart from a sock on his cock. Taken on a borrowed Canon G5 while I choose a new compact camera.
More G2

I like this G2. However it makes me think I'd like the G6 even more, because of all it's improved features. So I guess I'll be giving it back tomorrow.
Choosing a camera.

St Nicholas Cathedral shot on a Canon G2
I'm in the process of replacing my Fuji S5000 with a camera that will shoot both higher resolution & in RAW. The Galway Camera Shop were kind enough to let me try out a Canon G2 that they have for sale as a demo from Canon. I'm aware of the age of the camera, but it takes terrific shots. It's a 4MP, 3X zoom with 3 focal points, whereas the newer G6 has 7 MP, 4x zoom and 9 focal points. The G6 also has a 2" screen compared to the 1.5" G2. Although I like the G2 and the price is good I might save my pennies for a G6 instead. I'm getting a go of a G5 tomorrow for comparison too, so I'll have a better idea then. Incidentally the Fuji is for sale with a 128mb card (160 shots) & card reader.
